課程概述 |
This course focuses on the hands-on experience of translating books for children and young adults from English into Chinese. The general skills of translation will be covered, with specific issues related to the translation of children’s literature to be discussed under the framework of translation theories. |

課程目標 |
1. Learn the skills and procedures of translating books for children and young adults.
2. Enhance the awareness of the potential difficulties and available strategies of translation through individual practice, peer review, and group discussion.
3. Learn how to assess the different components of translating a book, and to justify the reasons for the chosen strategies.
4. Learn from analyzing the published translated works, focusing on the issues related to the translation of children’s and young adults’ literature.
5. Learn through self reflection.

課程要求 |
1. All assignments are required to be submitted within due date. 2 points will be deducted from the final grade for each late submission.
2. Class attendance, lesson preparation and active class participation are required.
3. 3 points will be deducted from the final grade for each unexcused absence. Being late for over 15 minutes is treated as absence for the class that day. If you are absent in case of uncontrollable situations (e.g. illness, emergency, etc.), be sure to give me the valid proof within two weeks.
4. It is the student’s responsibility to find out what occurred and what was taught in class during his or her absence.
5. Save and print out each draft for the portfolio. Use “track changes” (追蹤修訂) for each revision.
